I have a lot more to say about this, but it is hard to get it across to you since you’ve picked up this bad habit of not listening. By this time you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet here I find you need someone to sit down with you and go over the basics on God again, starting from square one—baby’s milk, when you should have been on solid food long ago! Milk is for beginners, inexperienced in God’s ways; solid food is for the mature, who have some practice in telling right from wrong…….So come on, let’s leave the preschool fingerpainting exercises on Christ and get on with the grand work of art. Grow up in Christ.

Wow, that is strong. But, you know what? It is soooooooooo true. Folks, it’s time for ALL OF US to get serious about “getting serious” concerning the things of God. Read that again…..it’s time for ALL OF US to get serious about “getting serious” concerning the things of God.

The world is hurting. We have their answer. Let’s go public with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

LOVE is still in fashion!

So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. (Colossians 3:12 MSG)

I love these verses! God has clothed each one of us with “in style” qualities such as compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline, etc. All we have to do is WEAR THEM. The wardrobe God has given to us is NOT to be put in a box and tucked away in the dark closets of our lives. He wants us to SHINE BRIGHT with the radiance of His garment, of Him.

The last part is my favorite. “And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.” We need to WEAR LOVE. Don’t hide it. Don’t leave it at home when you go to work. And by all means, don’t discount it’s power. Love is our basic all-purpose garment! Never be without it! Amen!

My Heartfelt Prayer For YOU

Here is my heartfelt prayer for each one of you today, and for myself as well…….

“I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning IN KNOWING HIM PERSONALLY, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is He is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life He has for His followers, oh, the utter extravagance of His work in us who trust Him—endless energy, boundless strength!” (Ephesians 1:17-19 Message Bible)

REMEMBER…..it’s the KNOWING HIM that is the key to finding out what He is calling YOU to do.

You Trust God…But Can HE Trust YOU?

CAUTION – PORTIONS OF THIS DEVOTION MAY BE CONSIDERED TO BE LIFE-ALTERING. AWESOME!

John 2:23-25 (AMP)
[23] But when He was in Jerusalem during the Passover Feast, many believed in His name identified themselves with His party after seeing His signs (wonders, miracles) which He was doing. [24] But Jesus for His part did not trust Himself to them, because He knew all men; [25] And He did not need anyone to bear witness concerning man needed no evidence from anyone about men, for He Himself knew what was in human nature. He could read men’s hearts.

Clarke’s Commentary says, “Many believed in His name – They believed Him to be the promised Messiah, but did not believe in Him to the salvation of their souls: for we find, from the verses, that their hearts were not at all changed, because our blessed Lord could not trust Himself to them.”

This is a powerful and eye-opening portion of Scripture. I’m sure most of us will say we trust God. But, can He trust US? We need to ask ourselves, “Are we trustworthy?” Are our motives right in our walk with Him? Are we in it for a “ticket to heaven” or an “escape from hell” or because we love Him? Are we totally and completely submissive and obedient to His will…..ALL OF IT? Can HE be assured we are in it for the long haul and not just until we get what we want? Will we bail once we get our miracle? Will we bail when things get tough? When persecution increases? And last, are we surrendered to Him 50%….75%…….99%…….or 100%?

I know those are tough questions to consider. The GOOD NEWS is……we can make the CHOICE to make things right in our hearts and HE will provide everything necessary for that change to take place. HE will always help us and even do it through us, but He will never force us. We provide the willing heart and He does the rest.
